Stay secure when you shop online

27th January 2018

We’re changing the way in which we authenticate online Visa Debit Card transactions. Currently, you may be prompted to provide some additional information when you shop online to confirm it’s you. We will shortly be changing our processes so that you may be asked to provide a One Time Passcode (OTP), which will be sent to the mobile phone number we hold for you. We will inform you in the news section of our website before this change takes place.

What is a One Time Passcode (OTP)?

OTPs are unique codes that we send to your registered mobile phone to give an extra layer of security. Never share an OTP with another person, not even Diamond Microfinance staff.

What this means for you

When shopping online, after you enter your card details in the retailer site, you may be asked to enter an OTP. The message will display the Diamond Microfinance logo and confirm the mobile number we’ll use.

If this occurs we’ll send you a text message containing the OTP to your mobile phone. The OTP contained in the text can then be used to verify and complete your transaction.

  • The OTP code we send can only be used once per transaction and should never be shared with anybody, not even Diamond Microfinance staff.
  • To use OTPs you must have registered your mobile phone number with us. Please ensure that the contact details we hold for you are up to date.
  • Always make sure that the details quoted within the OTP message correspond with your request. If you ever receive an OTP message which you’re not expecting, call us on to report it. Lines are open 8.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am to 6.00pm on a Saturday and Sunday. Calls may be recorded or monitored.

It’s important to ensure we have your correct details

Remember, where we hold a mobile number for you and you have access to Internet Banking, you can check and update the details once you’ve logged in. Alternatively, you can call us on the number above. Please have your Personal Access Code (PAC) to hand when calling. If you don’t have a PAC or have lost or forgotten it, please contact us on the number above.
